This 2-shades-of-blue handcrafted and handsewn Travel Bag (gym Bag, Luggage) is called Odysseus after the famous Greek adventurer. You can be a well-accessorized adventurer with this overnight bag. Odysseus is 18" wide, 8 1/2" tall with a circumference of 26". Because it is handsewn, it will last for decades (the leather will shift instead of rip). There is a pocket on one end and a strap on the other, so you can always and quickly know what you put in each end pocket. The main compartment hold a lot and the 2 end pockets are great for organizing. So, travel well and avoid the singing Sirens!!!

THE BAG:
          The basic pattern for this classy bag is called Marge (see background below). The bag has a larger, 3” gusset and measures 10” wide x 6” tall. The double-thick flap and shoulder strap have an acid-washed hair-on leather that provides a really unique look.
          I added a cell phone pocket on the back using the acid-washed hair-on leather. I also added a buckle to the shoulder strap, so it can fit you perfectly.

BACKGROUND:
Although most of my bags are named after Greek gods and heroes, the basic pattern for this bag was created by my apprentice, Julia, and was named after her sister, one of the early victims of Covid.

THE BOX:
          The basic pattern for this box is called Noula (see background below). The box is 5½” square and 4” tall. It is completely lined with goat skin which extends to the outside maintaining its natural edge. The inside of the lid is also lined; the top has a hole with a “puff” of goat skin trying to escape! The box is dyed with three shades of brown. It is finished off with a couple coats of leather balm and wax.
BACKGROUND:
          Noula is a heroine of Greece. Okay, maybe not, but she is a dear friend I’ve known for more than 50 years. She’s just a little bit crazy (hence “dear friend”).

THIS BAG: This crazy bag began with a pattern I call Bouboulina (see background below).  I added a cell phone pocket on the back and covered it with goat skin which I had dyed with a special spray to match some of the holes in the skin.
          For the front, I lined two large pieces of skin with three shades of blue and dyed a portion of the larger skin with swipes of black.
          I added a hanging pocket to the inside using a lighter-colored leather, so the pocket is easier to find and use.
          All the straps are double or triple lined and handsewn. The closure strap is triple thick with cut outs in the black leather to expose three shades of blue. It is finished off with a magnetic snap.
          There are four pieces to the shoulder straps; each piece is double thick and handsewn. The buckle allows the shoulder strap to be adjusted to your preferences.
SIZE: The bag is 12” wide x 151/2” tall x 2” deep

BACKGROUND: Bouboulina was a heroine of the 1821 Greek Independence. Her wealth allowed her to buy a huge warship which she captained. She and her crew sank many ships of the Turkish occupiers. The Greeks won their independence, but after 400 years of occupation, there are still many remnants of Turkish culture in Greece.

THIS BAG: The basic pattern for this funky bag is called Nikos (see background below). This is a vertical-shaped bag. The brown leather is cow hide, the lighter leather is goat and there is even a bit of hair-on deer hide peeking out of a couple holes in the front
          I added a cell phone pocket on the back and another piece of goat under the flap.
          The double thick shoulder strap has goat accents at the base.

BACKGROUND:  The basic pattern of this bag is named after the man who taught me this hand sewing technique when I lived in Kerkyra, Greece, Nikos Sakalis. Nikos has a beautiful shop on Kerkyra (called Corfu by the Brits), and he still maintains this shop after 40 years.
